I Heart MN!

My son and I are still settling in, but we’re in love with our new surroundings. Things are going to be more financially challenging for me here, but we’ll survive and THRIVE!! I told my son I wanted to get him something for Christmas, and he said moving here was the best present. Awwww…

He just started a job training program yesterday, taking some classes at the local college and then when he’s through in February, he’ll be doing a paid internship. He’s not sure if he wants to be in the field or not, but I’m proud of him for getting some life experience. He did spend about two hours after the class telling me all about it. I think he has some interest in it, even if he doesn’t realize it yet.

Still unpacking. I have a lot of stuff for crafting, and then I was on the survivalist kick for awhile, so I have waaaaay too much stuff for that, but it’s coming in handy since funds are limited. We still need to get a door that leads down to the basement to keep the cats out of the basement. Still not sure how we’ll do that w/o spending any money. I’ve thought of taking one of the doors off a bedroom, but it’s too tall. My son said he could saw it shorter, but I’m not sure if our rinky dink little hacksaw will do the trick. Only one way to find out…

I was going to have him do that today, but it was down to the single digits with windchill. Maybe tomorrow. I’d like to let the cats out soon; they’re currently in a bedroom. I’m sure they’d like to explore the rest of the house.

This week we introduced the dogs to stairs – lol! I had a two story back in Inbredville, but it had a door that was always shut to the dogs. Since our bedrooms and the only bathroom is upstairs, it was time to move our beds up there. I was a little scared of how they’d do without a banister, but they’re doing just fine.

Tessa, the pup, likes to sneak up there all the time now – kinda like a little kid who’s just learned to do something new, and she wants to keep doing it.

Will be doing more unpacking and organizing tomorrow. I also want to get to my new Giani Granite Kit that arrived a couple days ago. Not sure if I can do it this weekend, but it’ll be soon! Can’t wait to try it out. I’ve heard so many good things about it. Stay tuned for my review about it. :)

I’ve also been working on a special recipe ebook, which I hope to be putting out shortly, so stay tuned for that, too!

My son and I walked to the store today. It’s a little over a mile away. I don’t mind the walk, but it was in the single digits with the windchill. It wasn’t too bad; it’s certainly not as windy here as in North Dakota. Still no frig, so we waited until today to get groceries. In this way, we can leave the perishables outside cuz the next several days will be below freezing. We’ll just have to thaw out our perishables now – ha!

Hope everyone here in the U.S. had a great Thanksgiving. Ours was wonderful since we’re out of Inbredville, North Dakota!!
